Apathyist Says:

Jul 15, 2010 - The idealism of Anarchy is just that, Idealism.. Clearly, we do need more than an "administration". Suggesting that dismantling our laws and governments would create some kind of utopia where everyone would cooperate and get along voluntarily is naive at best.Go live in dark-age Europe or take a look around modern Africa and you can see the result of a society degraded by lack of a strong, central Government capable of enforcing Law.

Jul 19, 2010 - How much i enjoyed V4Vendetta in black&white when i read it back in the mid80's!It was 1 f my Jewels of anarchistArt & remained 'til 2day.Not many Comicnovels i have are still revered as much as this 1.2 see Moore talking on this Masterpiece is just marvellous.Thanx 4 the post & thank you Alan 4 this epic peace of freedomenhancement.I wish there would be a Movieremake with all those subtleties and freedom messages we can see&read in the Comic.

myleftFIST Says:

Jul 20, 2010 - @Apathyist - dark ages Europe was a feudal society, and modern Africa generally is made up of authoritarian state or substate societies. This is not anarchism. Anarchism, as a political philosophy, does not mean absence of government. It means a society run collectively in order to maximize freedom. The modern state is an inherently elitist structure, and anarchist conceive of resistance to state and corporate power as a way to better the world.

jtbond1975 Says:

Jul 21, 2010 - Moore knows. thus we all should know Moore. ;)

Apathyist Says:

Jul 23, 2010 - @myleftFIST Dark-Age Europe and Africa are the closest examples to Anarchism that we have. They evolved into what they were/are because the system is flawed and allows people to gain power through violence. A society must be inherently "elitist", because all functional structures require strength to maintain.

myleftFIST Says:

Jul 23, 2010 - @Apathyist no, those societies are completely non-anarchist. The closest anarchist societies throughout history are parts of Spain (Catalonia and Aragon) during the Spanish Civil War, the early Israeli Kibbutzim, Zapatista Mexico, the Paris Commune, and a few other examples.

Apathyist Says:

Jul 23, 2010 - @myleftFIST I disagree. If you look at the common social structure of common people pre-1800's and pre-colonial Africa they're much closer to Anarchism than any of the societies you listed. Infact, none of the places you mentioned were "societies", so to speak. They're small cliques within a broader political structure.

patient0Studios Says:

Jul 27, 2010 - @myleftFIST I think what he's getting at is that those historical examples demonstrate how common people lived in a very anarchistic fashion. What you are listing are examples of big A anarchism and distinct political movements. Not disagreeeing that they are successful examples but I think you missed Apathyists point.

myleftFIST Says:

Jul 27, 2010 - @patient0Studios I understand his point, but his point is wrong. Feudalism is not anarchism. Neither is authoritarian government by African warlords, or what have you. These systems are very ordered, its just that the common people are at the bottom of that order. He is confusing anarchism with instability (even though feudalism was a fairly stable system). Anarchism is an ordered system in which common people have political power, which is the opposite of how Aparthyist treats it.

Aug 26, 2010 - Can I buy V for Vendetta graphic novel in the original black in white version?

Theokondak Says:

Aug 26, 2010 - In Greece, after WWII we had those fasists. They was simple ordinary men who got power to their hands, and then they became, hounds.

Harlotito Says:

Aug 28, 2010 - @TheVetoSkreeemer "-We're of to blame in this -'tis too much proved- that with devotion's visage and pious action we do sugar o'er the devil himself.-What's that mean?-Spare the rod.""The only verdict is vengeance, a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilantand the virtuous."

TheVetoSkreeemer Says:

Aug 28, 2010 - @Harlotito Thanks for that quote, at least there exists some freedom of speech, all in all the basic liberty . Personally i am no Anarchist, in Anarchy land those with more power, physical, for example prevail, the result is that the weak, old, women tend to be more abused than in a police state. Be well

Harlotito Says:

Aug 28, 2010 - @TheVetoSkreeemer Jeez! I'm not talking about Anarchy! :S Talking about V for Vendetta. Be well.

TheVetoSkreeemer Says:

Aug 28, 2010 - @Harlotito I know but that is what V for vendetta is all about Fascism vs. Anarchy, V is a very charismatic an interesting character , but he proposes Anarchy, that is why at the end of the book people are leaving on camps, with the rule of the stronger being the law. Great book, makes you ponder

Harlotito Says:

Aug 31, 2010 - @TheVetoSkreeemer I saw the movie. Thanks anyway.

TheVetoSkreeemer Says:

Aug 31, 2010 - @Harlotito I am talking about the comic book, the movie is quite naive and diferent, that is why is so mediocre. It places Fasciscm vs. Democracy, which didnt happen on the Comics. One of the worst scenes the Wacowski s invented was the one where a multitude of people dreses as V marched and the army didnt do anything. In real life those civillians wolud have been massacrated, and later a cover story such as they were kiled by a terorist V wolud appear.

TheVetoSkreeemer Says:

Aug 31, 2010 - Responder a este vídeo... that happens on the real world on a daily basis.

Harlotito Says:

Sep 1, 2010 - @TheVetoSkreeemer Yeah, I know. I google as well. Thanks again.
